Chargepoint Connectors?

Just bought a 2025 i5 yesterday, and trying to figure out available public charging.

In the Chargepoint app, there is a selection for "2024 BMW i5 eDrive 40" but 2025 is not yet in their system, so I selected the 2024.

I found that many Chargepoint stations didn't show up on the map. I looked at the Connectors for this selection, and the only one preset is "DC Fast - Combo". I thought our cars support AC J1772 so I selected that under Custom and then they all showed up.

Is this the correct thing to do? I'm so confused about all these charging connectors/standards...

These are two things - I use ChargePoint AC charging at my office as I’m there all day and can charge up over multiple hours at 6kW. Useless for roadtripping of course when you need to just find DC fast charging. Chargepoint has both types in their network, whereas EA, EVGo etc are exclusively DCFC I believe.
